Abbotsford, BC - The Métis Nation British Columbia Board of Directors congratulates the successful candidates resulting in the 2010 MNBC By-Election. MNBC President Dumont and Board of Directors congratulate Terry Anonson, newly elected Kootenay Region Director and Acclaimed Metis Youth BC - Vancouver Island Representative, Savannah McKenzie.
President Dumont stated, 'It is my pleasure to congratulate all candidates who ran in the recent By-election for the positions of Kootenay Region Director and Vancouver Island Regional Metis Youth Representative'.
The MNBC Board of Directors welcomes Terry Anonson, as the newest board member and looks forward to working with Mr Anonson in his new elected position. With Mr. Anonson's experience in working within the Kootenay community and most recently his experience as the appointed Senator MNBC is confident Mr Anonson will represent the Kootenay region community, which will bring honor to its Metis Citizens.
President Dumont stated, 'Savannah McKenzie has exemplified true youth leadership. She has represented the youth on Vancouver Island that has reflected her commitment to her position and will carry on that same commitment, dedication and support to these young Metis leaders that she has shown these past few years'.
President Dumont, Vice President Hodgson, MNBC Board of Directors and Staff extend sincere appreciation to Mr. Bob Adams. Mr. Adams was appointed as regional representative for the Kootenay Region and he represented his community with great integrity and commitment to the Kootenay Regions Metis Citizens since his appointment March of this past year. President Dumont stated, 'With the utmost respect and gratitude I want to thank Mr. Adams for his dedicated leadership, and his continued commitment, to the Metis Nation British Columbia.' Mr. Anonson and Miss McKenzie will be sworn in at the 2010 Annual General Meeting September 25, 2010.

PARTNERS COUNCIL REACTS TO THE CANCELLATION OF THE 2011 NORTH AMERICAN INDIGENOUS GAMES (NAIG) Council Vows to Find Alternative Competitive Opportunities for Aboriginal Youth in BC.
Duncan, BC - The Aboriginal Sports, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) has received official word from the North American Indigenous Games Council (NAIG Council) that the 2011 Games, scheduled to be held in Milwaukee, have been cancelled.

It is partially funded by the UAWG and is open from 11 pm to 7 am over the winter (October - February ). It is a Safe place for soup and sandwhiches & Intervention after all other agencies are closed and the street people and homeless have nowhere to go.
